Looking back helps us to see that we’re not alone. The trials and suffering that we face in this world are not new. There have been generations of faithful followers of God that have persevered in the midst of great suffering. It can be freeing to be reminded that we are not alone, that there is a long, well-trodden path of suffering that leads to glory. We can remember the witnesses, the way they suffered, and find strength to face what will come our way. The past obedience of the witnesses empowers our present obedience. 

Daily, weekly, and yearly rhythms are a gift to us from God. Their purpose is not for us to do so that we can earn His acceptance. Instead, as we assemble with God’s people, read God’s Word, and reflect on God’s works in our lives little by little, we behold Him and become like him. The purpose of these rhythms is to help us to live out who we already are in Christ for the rest of our earthly lives. The God who was faithful to redeem us walks with us day by day as we embrace rhythms of grace.

Hobbies are a wonderful part of the Christian life, and they function best when they are rightly prioritized.

Putting the Word of God in our heart everyday will help us to endure in the race that God has called us to run, and to encourage other believers that are also running their race.

The same faithful God who led Paul and the Thessalonians and the church throughout the last two millennia is the same faithful God who leads us today.  He who calls us is faithful.

When it comes to truth claims made by the world, let’s be Bereans who eagerly listen without despising, and then carefully put every word to the test, examining the Scriptures daily to discern if the message is true.

Let’s stop the doom-scroll and start praying. When we’re worried and tempted to trust influencers more than the inspired and inerrant Word of God, may we pray.

May we intentionally show love and appreciation to godly leaders with our words, actions, and prayers.

Turning our attention to the hope that is found in Christ, not of this world, is how we stay alert and awake.
